The Pocket Sponsor is a new Concept in Meditation books.

TheseFrom the author of Day By Day come a turly new look at the old standby. It's a meditation book, but not a daily meditation book that is currently so popular. This is a 24/7 book that is truly remarkable. It is a brief, to the point , no bull book that gives 12 Step support on a 24/7 basis. It has a reflection and a positive recovery statement for every hour of the day for 31 days.

Although it has a message for every hour of every day, you need not read it every hour. When you arise in the morning and before retiring at night, it is a good habit to pull out the Pocket Sponsor and read the support passage. Anytime during the day that you feel uneasy, find the day and hour and read your message, especially during the HALT moments (too Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired).

In beginning recovery, the Pocket Sponsor is meant to be carried with you at all times.  For those with a few 24 hours, the Pocket Sponsor becomes a 24/7 ‘back to the basics’ support that can be kept handy in our recovery library or on our bedside table.

Program Nazism

dMs. Marshall believes that addiction is addiction and that recovery is recovery. Intolerance and prejudices between 12-Step fellowships and censorship of what words can be used, books referred to, and what meetings one can attend is not something Shelly supports.

Twelve Step Nazism is just as wrong in the name of "unity" as is a spiritual program that asks you to practice these principles in all your affairs, but then tells you that you cannot talk about those affairs. Although each fellowship has its chemical emphasis that can be important for identification purposes, the disease of addiction is a neurochemical brain disorder that is essentially the same in each of us. Research is pretty clear in this area. We don't know exactly why some are addicts (meaning alcoholics too) or why some aren't, anymore than we understand why some are diabetics and others not, but we do know what is going on in the brain of addicts. Her personal motto:

Don't let the sole purpose of any fellowship interfere with the soul purpose.
